Calibrated landscapes
This photographic body of work is articulated in order to highlight the symbiosis between the body taken as a sign or measuring unit and the landscape. The concept of landscape necessarily implies an observer and their perception of a portion of the surrounding world. I wear a red and white checkered suit while taking a self portrait with a radio remote control. This pattern on the suit is a direct descendant of patterns used in heraldry and later on in signage. The suit becomes the common denominator in all images of that series and acts as a universal reference.
The approach is both a logic and intuitive continuation of a previous series where I used the camera obscura tent and pin-hole cameras to render very particular aspects of the landscape.
